It has long been a public secret that Israel has nuclear missiles. Now we know how much, as well.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell blew the lid off Israel’s hush-hush nuclear program — saying the country has 200 warheads pointed at Iran, according to his hacked emails.
In the March 2015 missives — which reveal information the Jewish state has long sought to keep under wraps — Powell wrote to Democratic Party donor Jeffrey Leeds about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to the US Congress, in which he warned against the planned Iran nuke deal.
Leeds said Netanyahu “said all the right things about the president and all the things he has done to help Israel. But basically [he] said this deal sucks, and the implication is that you have to be an idiot not to see it,” according to foreign policy website LobeLog, which cited emails leaked this week by DCLeaks.
Powell, 79, responded that given Israel’s imposing arsenal, it would be very unlikely that Iran’s mullahs would decide to build a nuke.
“Negotiators can’t get what he wants. Anyway, Iranians can’t use one [a nuclear weapon] if they finally make one. The boys in Tehran know Israel has 200, all targeted on Tehran, and we have thousands,” Powell wrote, LobeLog reported.
“As Akmdinijad (sic) [said], ‘What would we do with one, polish it?’ I have spoken publicly about both nK (North Korea) and Iran. We’ll blow up the only thing they care about — regime survival. Where, how would they even test one?” he said, referring to former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Powell later expressed support for the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, acknowledging Iran’s right to enrich uranium for nuclear power.
The deal requires Iran to reduce its stockpile of low-enriched uranium by 98 percent for 15 years and redesign a reactor so it can’t produce plutonium for nuclear weapons.
“Can’t get enough sanctions to break them. Lots of bs around about their progress. Bibi likes to say ‘a year away,’ as do our intel guys. … (It) ain’t that easy to do,” he wrote, referring to Netanyahu by his nickname.
Israel, which is not a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, maintains a policy of nuclear ambiguity and has long remained mum about the size — and even the existence — of its nuclear weapons program.
According to a 2014 report by the Federation of American Scientists, Israel is believed to possess between 80 and 400 nuclear weapons — though the report’s authors estimated the number was closer to 80, the Times of Israel reported.
As a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Powell’s figure of 200 warheads would appear to be more authoritative than the approximations by “news media reports, think tanks, authors and analysts” cited in the FAS report, the Israeli news site reported.
Leaked emails also shed light on how the retired four-star US Army general insulted Donald Trump as “a national disgrace” and an “international pariah,” as well as calling Hillary Clinton a “greedy, not transformational” politician.
DCLeaks has ties to a Russian military intelligence hacker group dubbed Fancy Bear, the Washington Post reported.
To be honest, I’m not surprised that the neoconservatives are warmongers. Even amongst their own ranks, they know the truth.
They are stirring up tensions to further the interests of the military industrial complex.

Indeed. That is why I don’t like to think of neoconservatives as nationalists. No nationalist in his right head will be trying to push his country into unnecessary wars.

Neocons aren’t just warmongers, they are inverterate liars and assholes. Decades upon decades of these failed interventions in the middle east, and what do they want to do? More interventions! Of course, the whole war on terror was just a smoke screen for PNAC to carry out their agenda. They wanted to get inside afghanistan and iraq for their own sinister reasons, none of which had anything to do with terrorists and WMDs.
But about israels nuclear arsenal, wasn’t there a similar episode like this a couple years ago? It keeps popping up like a malignant tumor, until everything gets swept under the rug again by a compliant media. Their reporting on the false ‘nuclear crisis’ with iran was very heavy handed and biased. Someone decided to make a politcal cartoon lampooning this point.

All political ideologies are invertebrate liars, whenever reality does not fit their little worldview they ignore reality. And yes, fixing the problem by “more of the same”, repeating the same c**p that caused the problems in the first place is easily noticeable with neocons, but is not exclusive to them.

Hallo Picard, was any “no nuclear proliferation” treaty anywhere around?

Israel having nukes is a public secret, everybody knows they have them but nobody says so officially. And India, Israel, Pakistan and South Sudan are not signatories to the treaty so it does not apply to them.

Nukes are fake.

But Dimona is just a copy from the French militarised nuclear reactor, we’re well placed to know it : we built Dimona ,) The nuclear primers they acquired is more than you need for 400-500 warhead. The Vela incident was surely fake too, so are the Popeye-Turbo and the Jericho-III and why acquiring submarines with 650mm torpedo tubes when all your torpedoes are 533mm.
Let’s be clear : Gerboise Bleue didn’t made one nuclear power but two.
Now, the process to separate isotopes without centrifugal (the mass product nuke bombs in a small lab) is a 1973 Israeli patent.
If we consider they have the capacity to produce warheads since 1966, the fact they can produce warheads at a rate of 10-12 per year, if you consider the few years where Dmona needed some rebuilding etc, their military budget and other points it’d be long to explain, 400 is the maximum they could have but it’d hurt the budget too much. 80 seems very low and due to the very challenging region they live in, knowing there are just dozens of millions around praying 5 times a day for Shoah v.2.00, it’s more realistic to consider they have 200-300 warheads, now if you consider tactical nukes/nuke grenades, 400 could be an OK number so well, 80 of the megaton range, 120-170 in the 45kt-200kt range and 150-200 nuke-“grenades” to repel a serious tank attack.
I’m not keen into believing Powell : he’s a patented liar, from Mi-Lai to the WMD and Zarkawi.
Now, about Iran, they’re not an existential threat to Israel. IMHO, they have much more reasons to fear the crazy arms race GCC is in while at the same time there is a serious Sunni-Islamism rise. Iran’s a paper tiger, their Air-Force is so outdated that they can even give air-support in Syria or Iraq and actually, it’s Israelis that manage to smuggle spare parts to keep their Phantoms, Tomcats and F-5 in the air, 2 were even arrested in the US in 2014 and they were serious Heredis. Iranian marine-commandos all use Uzis and the 45k of these weren’t acquired by the Shah and BTW, without Israel, Iran would have been invaded by Saddam. You find Jaffa oranges in Tehran and Iranian pistachios in Tel-Aviv.
What seems more realist to me is that Iran is used as a scarecrow by Netanyahu to not risk IDF losing edge while the real threat is the low profile double agenda in GCC and the recent use of UNESCO as an ant-Israeli political mean shows that even in silence, the Arab League is still determined to destroy Israel.
Now Bibi should better buy 100-150 Rafales than around 45 useless F-35 as due to the numerous orders of F-15, F-18 and Typhoons in the Gulf, well, I don’t think their real target is Iran. al-Jubeir even said he wanted 60 Rafales a few month ago…
Remember : in Saudi schools, kids are thought to kill the Jews and the Christians… Do we push our children to hate Arabs? Saudis, and they’re not the only ones, seems to have a very strange ‘friendship’ that looks a lot like ‘taqiyya’ and same thing values for Qatar (led by an emir who belongs to the infamous Muslim Brotherhood) and some other GCC countries… Bibi’s a MIT graduate, he’s nowhere near to be an idiot and when you have the Saudi military budget now even above the Russian one and atteigning 13.7% of their GDP, well, if you don’t see them coming, I do. Now, think about Qatar : their Air-Force has only 12 Mirage-2000 and some Alpha-Jets with a 2000 manpower. I could understand considring extending it a bit to 24 Rafales but also ordering 72 F-15E with an option for 36 more while there are only 278k Qataris and only 2.4M ppl in the country… Not counting the huge numbers of C-17, AH-64 etc… Well, Qatar with more F-15 than Israel??? And with an equipment that’d need a 20k manpower air-force, so the needed manpower for the AF would be twice the size of their full army? And well, Qatar would end having, alone, more jet fighters than Iran? If they Target Iran, they also target Israel, it’s clear!

Agreed, Israel has every reason to be paranoid and will need all the help it can get. So buying F-35 might well be just a political move to get more friendly with US. Personally I think a Rafale-Gripen combination would be the best for Israel, Gripen is a defensive fighter designed by a country with very similar requirements to Israel. Meanwhile Rafale is an excellent generalist air superiority and strike fighter, combination would work very much like F-15-F-16 combination.

There is something better than Gripen fielded now.
Not informed about HAL’s Tejas Mk1A? Dassault, from which the project came from, since, would have been Rafale rejected, it was intended to replace Mirage-2000, is back at it.
As Rafale’s prototype, Tejas Mk1 had F404, the Hornet’s engine.
Rafale’s M88 is much smaller and Safran just issued M88-Kaveri with 98kN thrust.
Dassault revised the insides, so more was made for as much fuel as in M2k, there is as much thrust as in Mirage-2000-9 while the aircraft weights about 1500-1800kg less and is about 2t lighter than Gripen-E.
Tejas Mk1A is to receive Thales RBE2/AESA and Thales will issue a standalone version of SPECTRA’s active stealth especially for Tejas since the aircraft if too small to have the full SPECTRA in, some features ending in external small pods. It also uses the same low RCS materials and M88 is well known for having the lowest IR signature.
In the end, Tejas Mk1A is to Rafale what Mirage-2000 is to Mirage-4000.
Flyaway cost, according to Indian sources, is said to be $42M.
Also if one considers that Gripen-E is announced at $75-85M, it’s a no starter compared to Rafale.
When it comes to Rafale’s stealth, a reinforcement is announced for the F4 upgrade.
Considering that the future ASN4G is said to be fit with a plasma steath system and so will it be next version of M53 SLBM and as an upgrade to SCALP-EG too, it makes sense that Rafale will get plasma-stealth too.
The soon to be introduced Tejas Mk1A will do an even better pair with Rafale than Gripen, especially since they share the same engine and radar, moreover, the Gripen’s F404 and Gripen-E’s F414 don’t allow more than 4 missions per 24h in intensive use while M88 allows 5-6 daily missions and to be pushed to 10-11 in case of intensive needs.
The already present passive+active stealth features are a great advantage, so are the pretty small size and the lowest IR signatures on market.
If Israel goes for F-35, there are two good reasons :
– $3.8B of US military help a year
– IAI builds all F-35 wings, Israeli companies are rewriting the botched F-35 software and they have all source-codes.
Nevertheless, considering real costs (and not the ones announced by Lockheed) and the really high maintenance, Knesset already pushes to have a limited number of F-35, unlikely to go over 75.
Since Indian version of Rafale as much as Tejas Mk1A integrate as much EU, Israeli, Russian and some US common weapons and moreover Dassault, Safran, Thales and 200 subcontractors are opening facilities n India, it would be unlikely for Israel to end with an embargo from the EU/France in support to the Fakestinian fraud. And bieng ethnic Jews, I bet the Dassaults’ would be pleased to see Israel using their aircraft again.
I doubt it to happen due to US pressure, but replacing their ageing F-15/F-16 by a combination of Rafale and Tejas Mk1A would really be the perfect fit.
I’d add that since these are really STOL, a fully loaded Rafale taking off in 400m, Israelis could consider using roads instead of airbases in a Swedish/Swiss pattern.

Hi Chuck,
this is junk science. The principles of nuclear energy and energy release from rapid fission are by now quite well understood and it’s an empirical fact that nuclear and thermonuclear devices have been tested many thousands of times. “Nukes don’t exist” is a “a cousin of my cousin said” type of “theory”.

Some may not remember about Colin Powell blatant lies at the UN.
The guy is no more in charge for long and considering the confusing numbers about Israeli nukes, I bet that even CIA doesn’t knows how many they have.
According to North-Korea, Israel may even have about 1360 warheads while Jimmy Carter says 400, some say 80…
The truth is that nobody but a few Israeli VIPs, militaries and nuclear scientists know.
There may as much be a thousand warheads as there could be zero and it all being pure deception to make everyone afraid from starting a war against them. Even the Vanunu case could be what out intelligence services call “intoxication”.
It’s what their “nuclear ambiguity” policy is all about : nobody knows what they do have in stores, thus, considering that Dimona is a ‘copy’ of our Marcoules nuke plant, I would think twice before provoking them at a point where they’re back to the wall and ending with the whole mid-east made a radioactive parking lot.
Religious fanatics should also remember that no Hajj = no Islam…
Would the Black Stone in the Ka’aba end vaporised, Islam would end at the same very moment.
They’d better stop playing stupid with “entities” like Israel, Russia, China, USA, India etc since ALL could vaporise the Black-Stone and Mecca AT WILL.
I sometime ask myself if they get that would Rome be razed, it wouldn’t destroy Christianity. Would Benares be razed, it wouldn’t destroy Hinduism but since the Hajj is a pillar of Islam, once Back-Stone/Kaaba/Mecca gone, Islam ends, so they’d better stop bothering us, especially since everybody has more than enough of the shit they are doing.
And they should stop counting on western left : only the support the left provides to Kurdish YPG should make the point for them : Marxists can’t stand bigots, they actually never did!
